A NO. 1 SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER

‘The beautiful love child of David Nicholl’s One Day and Kate Atkinson’s Life After Life’
The Times

What if one small decision could change the rest of your life?

Eva and Jim are nineteen, and students at Cambridge, when their paths first cross in 1958. Jim is walking along a lane when a woman approaching him on a bicycle swerves to avoid a dog: what happens next will determine the rest of their lives.

As we follow three different versions of their future – together, and apart – their love story takes on different incarnations, as it twists and turns to the conclusion in the present day.

‘A triumphant debut.. a thoughtful, measured book about the interplay of chance and destiny in our lives’
Sunday Telegraph

‘An utterly convincing love story about two people destined to be together somehow, no matter what’
The Times

‘Like Kate Atkinson’s Life After Life or the film Sliding Doors, this fine debut offers multiple “what ifs”… Involving and poignant’
The Sunday Times

‘The tantalising “what if?” theme keeps all three stories going at a cracking pace’
Daily Mail

‘Truly enthralling… I simply adored this wonderful novel’
Jessie Burton, author of The Miniaturist

*The Game-changing Sunday Times Bestseller*
*Winner of Best Sports Writing at the Sports Book Awards*

What readers are saying about Gary Neville’s brilliant book about the future of football:

‘A great read about the state of the game’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
‘A must for any football fan’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
‘Time for Premier League club owners to bring our game into 2023 and stop being so short sighted and insular’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
‘Brilliant book written from a great view point, and with passion’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

‘The closest thing to a spokesman there is for English football.’ Sunday Times
‘Brilliant.’ Mail on Sunday
‘Gary Neville usually talks a lot of sense, and writes it too . . . Neville’s words are timely.’ Henry Winter
__________

The beautiful game is under threat. The greed and selfishness of the biggest clubs is harming the sport, with smaller clubs struggling for financial survival and supporters being left behind.

It’s time to fix football.
__________

Football is the people’s game. A sport accessible to everyone and enjoyed by millions around the world.

But football is broken. Beneath the glamourous sheen of the Premier League, it’s a game that’s rusting and rotten. The growing influence and wealth of the biggest teams is harming the game, leaving fans out of pocket and smaller clubs clinging to survival. The European Super League, which looked to eradicate competition in favour of guaranteed profits, was just the beginning.

This isn’t what football is about. Something’s got to change. Enough is enough.

Gary Neville has had a front-row seat in football for over 30 years, witnessing the sport at every level – as a player, a coach, a pundit and an owner. Most of all, he’s a fan. Shocked by the state of the game, Gary looks to find out how we got into this mess, who’s responsible, and what we can do about it.

The People’s Game is Gary’s vision for a brighter future. Drawing on interviews with those at the epicentre of the sport’s biggest issues – from the role of ownership to the lack of funding in the football league, the rise in racism, ownership models and the future of the women’s game – he explains how football has sleepwalked into this mess and offers a new path forward. With stories from his own playing career, as well as insight into some of the biggest footballing decisions in recent history, this is a total look at the game today.

This is a passionate, personal and critical account of how football lost its soul, and what we can do to get it back.

Imagine a world where your position in society depended on what bit of the colour spectrum you could see. This is the world inhabited by Eddie Russett (red, middle-level) and Jane Grey (monochromatic, lowest in society). Eddie and Jane must negotiate the delicate Chromatic politics of society to find out what the ‘Something that Happened’ actually was, how society got to be this way, and crucially, is there Somewhere Else beyond their borders – and if there is, could there be Someone Else, too, someone whose unseen hand has been guiding the fortunes and misfortunes of the nation for the past 500 years?

It’s a tale of a young couple’s thirst for justice and answers in an implacably rigid society, where the prisoners are also the guards, and cages of convention bind the citizens to only one way of thinking – or suffer the consequences. . ..

THE NO. 1 SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER

Head back down to Clarkson Farm with the bestseller from our favourite welly-wearing wannabe farmer, Jeremy Clarkson
___________

Enthusiastic trainee farmer Jeremy Clarkson made just £144 in his first year at Diddly Squat Farm. This year he’s determined to do better. Not because he now knows what he’s doing. But because he’s fed up of getting stick from Kaleb.

Yet farming continues to be a challenge.

For instance . . .
· Loading a grain trailer was more demanding than flying an Apache gunship?
· Cows were more dangerous than motor-racing?
· It’s easier to get planning permission to build a nuclear plant than to turn a barn into a restaurant?

Jeremy’s always got a plan. Loads of them. Often cunning.

Not always greeted with wild enthusiasm by Kaleb and Cheerful Charlie, however . . .
___________

PRAISE FOR DIDDLY SQUAT

‘Clarkson has showcased the passion, humour and personalities of the people who work throughout the year to grow the nation’s food . . . and brought an understanding of many of the issues faced by farmers to the British public’ National Farmers Union

‘A deserving Farming Champion of the Year’ Farmers Weekly

‘I don’t know anything about farming. It’s like David Attenborough doing jet-skiing, or Nicholas Witchell saying, “I’m going to be a cage fighter'” Jeremy Clarkson

From the bestselling author of BORN ON A BLUE DAY and THINKING IN NUMBERS

‘Bursting with feeling and possibility’ SUNDAY TELEGRAPH

‘Nine Minds offers something that autistic people urgently need: it humanises us’ KATHERINE MAY

‘Tammet’s exquisite portraits remind us that the variety of brains is every bit as essential as any other form of diversity’ ANDREW SOLOMON

‘A book as beautiful as the minds it portrays’ AMY TAN

A Japanese researcher in psychology sets out to measure loneliness while drawing on her own experience of autism. A quirky boy growing up in 1950s Ottawa sows the seeds of his future Hollywood stardom. In the US, a non-verbal man explores body language, gesture by eloquent gesture, in his mother’s yoga classes.

Nine Minds delves into the extraordinary lives of nine neurodivergent men and women from around the globe. From a Fields Medal-winning mathematician to a murder detective, a pioneering surgeon to a bestselling novelist, each is remarkable in their field, and each is changing how the world sees those on the spectrum.

Exploding the tired stereotypes of autism, Daniel Tammet – acclaimed author and an autistic savant himself – reaches across the divides of age, gender, sexuality and nationality to draw out the inner worlds of his subjects. Telling stories as richly diverse as the spectrum itself, this illuminating, life-affirming work of narrative nonfiction celebrates the power and beauty of the neurodivergent mind, and the daring freedom with which these individuals have built their lives.

‘Nine Minds reminds us of the diversity within neurodiversity’ GRAEME SIMSION

AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Hospice nurse and TikTok star Hadley Vlahos shares moving stories, life lessons and wisdom from her patients in this heart-warming memoir about how end-of-life care can teach us just as much about how to live as it does about how we die.

We don’t often talk about dying, even in the medical field, but death is a universal part of life. An ardent advocate for compassionate end-of-life care, Hadley Vlahos, shows us that the end of our lives can be rich, beautiful and transformative by sharing moving stories about how her patients’ final days have changed her life.

Full of insights from real people, from the woman who never once questioned her faith until she was close to death, to the older man seeing visions of his late daughter, to the young patient who laments that she spent too much of her short life worrying about what others thought of her – each story raises vital questions about living, dying and the afterlife, inspiring us to live our lives to the fullest.
